Mentorship....a bridge to empowerment
At Parkinson Mentors Arizona, our mission is to provide peer support to a person newly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and individuals with established Parkinson's, so each person feels supported and empowered.
We understand that every individual's journey with Parkinson's disease is unique. Our peer mentors travel the road of PD with strength, advocacy, positivity, and persistence. We offer resources, and guidance to help you achieve understanding and feel supported.
We provide mentorship to:
People newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
People with established Parkinson’s disease.
People with Parkinson’s disease living in Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila Counties.
People with Parkinson’s disease who have questions.
People with Parkinson’s disease who want to talk to someone who is experiencing a similar journey.
Our Mentors:
Provide support to peers with Parkinson’s disease.
Listen.
Provide resources.
Speak from personal experience.
Do not provide medical advice.
Mentors are:
Living with Parkinson's disease.
Advocates.
Empowering.
Have a positive outlook.
Compassionate.
Knowledgeable about resources in the community.
Mentors have:
Been trained by Ability360, a Center for Independent Living.
Passed a background check.
